Neurosurgery
The Neurosurgery Division specialises in treating patients with head injuries, spinal (backbone) injuries, brain tumours, spinal tumours, congenital diseases of the brain and spine, degenerative diseases of the spine, and vascular diseases such as cerebral aneurysms, etc.
We perform many kinds of operations, such as lumbar and cervical discectomies for disc disease, spinal instrumentation for trauma and degenerative diseases, the removal of brain and spinal tumours, and a host of many other major and minor procedures.
Our operating theatre is equipped with highly specialised instruments for performing micro-neurosurgery along with various types of spinal instrumentation such as the Carl Zeiss operating microscope, the Cavitron Ultrasonic Surgical Aspirator (CUSA), and the Midas-Rex drill system, etc. The in-house CT scan, MRI scan and C-Arm facilities are available to us 24 hours a day, and the acquisition of more modern equipment, such as a Neuroendoscope set and an image guidance system, etc. is also planned.
Departmental Staff
The Neurosurgery department is staffed by one consultant, two specialists and one general practitioner.
