Urology

The Urology Department is staffed by one consultant and two specialist doctors, and offers a comprehensive range of services for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of disorders of the urinary tract, urogenital system and male reproductive organs.

Location and Opening Times of the Urology Clinic:

  • The Urology Clinic is located in the Polyclinic Building on the Al Ain Hospital campus. The Clinic is open from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday, and the Infertility and Erectile Dysfunction Clinic is open on Thursday from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.

Scope of Services

The core services offered by the Urology department include:

  • Benign prostatic hyperplasia
  • Inflammation of the prostate
  • Urinary tract infection
  • Urinary stones (kidney, ureter, and bladder)
  • Prostate, bladder and kidney cancers
  • Hypospadius and antireflux surgery (for patients over the age of 13)
  • Testicular diseases (hydrocel, varicocele, tumours and other)
  • All types of urogenital trauma

Open urological procedures such as:

  • Simple and radical nephrectomy
  • Nephroureterectomy
  • Partial nephrectomy
  • Pyelolithotomy and nephrolithotomy
  • Urterolithotomy
  • Cystoprostatectomy
  • Pyeloplasty
  • Reimplantation of ureter
  • Transvaginal sling procedures for female incontinence
  • Surgery for Peyronie’s disease
  • Urethroplasty and substitution urethroplasty
  • Management of all urogenital trauma (renal, ureteric, bladder, urethral,penile,testicular)

  • Undescended testes

Endoscopic procedures

  • Transurethral resection of prostate
  • Transurethral resection of bladder tumour
  • Internal urethrotomy for urethral strictures
  • Endoscopic treatment of bladder stones
  • Diagnostic and therapeutic ureteroscopy for the treatment of ureteric stones and diseases
  • Percutaneous nephrolithotomy for the treatment of renal stones

Infertility

Infertility can be emotionally stressful for those wishing to have children, and we therefore place great importance on assisting those affected by this condition. Some of the procedures we offer are:

  • Semen analysis
  • Evaluation of azoospermia and oligospermia
  • Testicular biopsy
  • Treatment of varicocele


Erectile dysfunction

  • Diagnosis and treatment of patients with impotence and premature ejaculation
