The newly-revitalized Department of Respiratory Medicine at Al Ain Hospital offers a wide-range of respiratory care services to both out-patients and in-patients. Our new professional team of European Medical Experts, Nurses and Respiratory Therapists work collaboratively to provide the latest and most advanced diagnostic, therapeutic and critical care modalities to our patients at Al Ain Hospital who are suffering from various respiratory diseases and sleep disorders.

Chest Clinic and Asthma Clinic

In-Patient Services:



Respiratory care services will be provided to all our patients of all ages, 24/7 at Al Ain Hospital upon written order from our medical staff. These include but not limited in all critical care units such as : Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Stroke Unit, Accident & Emergency Department and the Pulmonary Ward.

Critical Care Services:
  • Ventilator Management In ICU, CCU, NICU and ER

  • Emergency Airway Management

  • Assistance In Intubation and Emergency Intubation if Needed

  • Weaning and Extubation

  • Cardio-Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

  • Critical Care Cardio-Pulmonary Diagnostics

  • Critical Care Cardio-Pulmonary Therapeutics

  • Assistance In Internal & External Transport of Ventilated Patients

  • Attendance In High-Risk Deliveries


Therapeutic Services:
  • Bronchial Hygiene Therapy: Chest physiotherapy/ Postural Drainage, Percussion/Vibration

  • Lung Expansion Therapy: Incentive Spirometry, PEP & Flutter

  • Aerosol & Humidity Therapy

  • Artificial Surfactant Replacement Therapy

  • Medical Gas Therapy: Oxygen, Nitric Oxide


Pulmonary Ward - Medical 4:



The Pulmonary Ward or Medical 4 is located at the back of the Medical Library and besides the Physiotherapy Department. The ward is divided into two sections: the Respiratory Unit and the Infectious Disease Unit. The ward is equipped with machines and equipments that comply with international standard and has an excellent back-up service of diagnostic procedures that cater to the needs of our patients.

The Pulmonary Ward uses a multi-disciplinary team approach to care for our patients throughout their stay in the ward. The team consists of pulmonologists, nurses, respiratory therapists, clinical pharmacist and clinical nutritionist who work hand-in-hand to care for our patients with special needs.

With the help of dedicated nursing staff and allied health staff, the ward implement a coordinated team approach of forming an integrated health environment by providing excellence in respiratory care. This optimizes outcomes and minimizes complications.
