The Medical Institute evaluates and treats patients with respiratory diseases. Our Chest Physicians perform specialised pulmonary diagnostic studies including full PFTs, bronchoscopies and skin allergy tests.
The severity of conditions treated range from the chronically ill to ICU patients with respiratory failure. Respiratory cases seen routinely include tuberculosis, pneumonias, interstitial lung disease, and COPD.
The Chest Clinic receives patients every Sunday and Wednesday from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm, and the routine procedures performed in the clinic include respiratory peak, flowmetry, and spirometry.
In addition to its specialised respiratory medical services, Al Ain Hospital provides services from qualified and experienced Respiratory Therapists subject to written doctor’s orders. Respiratory Therapy patients are usually referred from the Critical Care Units, such as the Intensive Care Unit (ICU), Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), Coronary Care Unit (CCU), the Emergency Medicine and Trauma Centre, but can also come from other hospital units.
The Respiratory Therapy Department at Al Ain Hospital is staffed by 15 Respiratory Care Practitioners. These are either graduates of American-accredited Respiratory Therapy programmes, or Bachelor of Science graduates in Respiratory Therapy (BSRT) from the Philippines. Some of our personnel are registered members of the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC) in the USA and are also active members of the American Association of Respiratory Care (AARC).
