The purpose of the internship year is to provide a well-balanced programme of graduate medical education in multiple clinical disciplines, which is designed to facilitate the choice of and/or preparation for a specific speciality. The internship year is not meant to be a complete graduate education programme in preparation for the practice of medicine, and must be designed to fulfil the educational needs of medical school graduates.
Upon completion of internship year, graduates will be able to:
1. Improve and apply their skills in taking history, making physical examinations, interpreting clinical data and writing accurate medical records;
2. Develop competence in reaching diagnoses and providing appropriate therapy.
3. Refine and learn new skills needed to perform many medical procedures;
4. Communicate effectively with patients, their relatives, peers and other healthcare professionals.
