SEHA (health in Arabic) is the corporate identity of the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company (ADHSC) established by Emiri Decree No. 10, March 2007.
SEHA succeeded the Health Authority - Abu Dhabi (HA-AD) January 1, 2008 as operations manager of the public hospitals and clinics of the Emirate.
SEHA is an independent public joint stock company. It is charged with developing and managing the public hospitals and clinics in the Emirate.
SEHA is committed to providing quality healthcare for the community in a socially responsible and cost effective manner on par with international standards, measured through accessibility, affordability, choice and satisfaction.
SEHA was created because of a need. The healthcare sector in Abu Dhabi is undergoing a significant review and transition. Under the leadership and vision of His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the United Arab Emirates and Ruler of Abu Dhabi and General Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces and Chairman of the Executive Council, the Executive Council has established goals to upgrade the healthcare delivery system of Abu Dhabi to world class standards.
The government wants to elevate its role through HA-AD to that of a regulator whose function is to adopt, monitor and enforce internationally recognized quality standards of its healthcare programs while SEHA assumes the role of hospital and clinic operator whose mission is to achieve the goals of the Emirii decree and deliver world class medicine to the people of Abu Dhabi.
In keeping with that goal, SEHA is partnered with select international healthcare institutions who can deliver state of the art systems and standards equal to the best systems in the world.
These include Medical University of Vienna and VAMED, Johns Hopkins Medicine, Cleveland Clinic, and Bumrungrad International. SEHA will oversee these hospital operation companies as the SEHA hospitals move from a government operational model to one run in the mode of the private sector.
SEHA is the managing and supervising institution of 8 hospital systems totaling 14 facilities, 2,472 licensed beds, more than 55 Primary Health Clinics and 14,350 employees.
